Associations

STEMMER IMAGING is an active member of the following associations.

• Automated Imaging Association (AIA)

  AIA is an international association supporting the development of machine vision technologies and informing its member companies about the latest industry trends.

• European Machine Vision Association (EMVA)

  EMVA, founded in 2003, represents the interests of European companies and coordinates the national associations in the domain of machine vision.

• Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V. (VDMA)

  VDMA - an association of German engineering and plant construction - is one of the most important service providers in Germany and offers the largest branch network of the capital goods industry in Europe.

Commitees

With the abundance of products manufacturers' standardisation gets more and more important. For this reason world's leading Machine Vision suppliers work actively in working groups to implement new technology standards.

STEMMER IMAGING has been playing a decisive role in the development of standards such as GigE Vision, GenICam and EMVA 1288 and is an active member in the respective committes.

• CameraLink

  CameraLink is a robust communications link between camera and frame grabber using a dedicated cable connection and a standardised communications protocol. This standard connection allows like configured components to freely exchange data.

• EMVA 1288

  The industrial standard 1288 fo the EMVA should help users selecting the right product by providing more transparency. It defines a unified method to measure, compute and present specification parameters for cameras and image sensors. The defined methods has been implemented by STEMMER IMAGING and are used in-house for comparing different cameras.

• GenICam

  The generic software interface GenICam (Generic Interface for Cameras) is strongly related with GigE Vision. The goal of this standard is to provide a generic programming interface. No matter what camera manufacturer or what interface technology (e.g. Gigabit Ethernet, CameraLink or Fire Wire) are used, the application programming interface should be always the same. The GenICam standard group is hosted by the EMVA.

• GigE Vision

  GigE Vision (Gigabit-Ethernet for Machine Vision) is an interface standard for high-performance Machine Vision cameras. It allows for fast image transfer using low cost standard cables over very long lengths. With GigE Vision, hardware and software from different vendors can interoperate seamlessly over GigE connections.
  The AIA (Automated Imaging Association) oversees the ongoing development and administration of the standard.
